Amhara shield Ethiopia

Amhara tribe Shield from Ethiopia, Possession of a shield among the Amhara tribe was nobility and regarded with such reverence among the warriors and chiefs, shields were both used for protection , status symbol and right of passage. The shield is made of animal hide, there has been some repair in the inner part which is clearly depicted on the photos, apart from the repair its in a good condition with nice patina consistent with age and usage,  early 19th century, measurements are H 22 cm X W 41 cm
